A movement of faith to enhance childcare programming for all ages.
Vision: The empower childcare providers to utilize Jesus and His teaching to maintain a healthy and stable program. Also, increasing the health of relationships within their program. Trust and respect are a building block to these relationships.
Outcome: Looking at the fruits: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness (Galatians 5:22 ESV). By implementing this program, you are inviting in all the fruits listed. Measuring them as an outcome through observation and the post assessment will give a tangible proof that Jesus is moving inside your program.
The Sowing Project is a 12 week guided program. Each week will encourage the provider and children to develop a way to interact with Jesus and each other. Providers will have support to ensure the success of the implementation.
This strategy has an emphasis on prayer. Prayer is a universal tool to empower individuals to speak what they want to happen. Prayer builds confidence, language skills and identifies trust within a relationship.
All positive guidance programs and most discipline programs want to empower the child to have a language that can identify their needs. Prayer does this without giving the child a false sense of entitlement. As Christians, we know our Lord and Savior is Jesus, and through prayer we are honoring and praising our true source.
These costly programs, mentioned above, do not operate on Biblical truths. They are similar to the Biblical foundations however lack the most important aspect- Jesus. As a professional, you have the power to utilize THE SOURCE to improve your childcare!
Proverbs 22:6 (NIV) Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
Ephesians 6:4 (NIV) Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
Matthew 19:14 (NIV) Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Please understand that no matter where your personal relationship is with Jesus, using these strategies and leading these children closer to Jesus, will do the same with you. You do not have to know the Bible. You do not need to know how to pray. You only have to desire to help the children improve. It’s a simple as taking one step forward.
How does this strategy work?
To begin using The Sowing Project, providers must take a self- assessment to identify the health of their program. The assessment is for your use only to identify strengths and weakness. It’s important to be honest on the self- assessment in order to gauge the growth over the 12 weeks. A post assessment is also provided.
A parent letter is available to share with families to illustrate what The Sowing Project strategy is about and what they should expect from their children.
Implementation of this strategy is simple. Each week a new topic is written out, instructions on how to activate the tool, and supporting activity or story for that topic.
The weekly topics are as follows:
Week #1: Jesus.
Week #2: Pray.
Week #3: Creation.
Week #4: Uniquely made. Uniquely ME!
Week #5: Loving kindness.
Week #6: Emotions and challenges
Week #7: Praise and celebrate
Week #8: I’m sorry….
Week #9: Trust. Honor. Respect.
Week #10: Acts of service
Week #11: Battles: When things are bigger then me.
Week #12: Family and community
Wrap up with reflection!
During first implementation, it is important to follow each week as numbered; each lesson is built upon the next. After a successful 12 weeks, then you may choose a week based on the challenges you are facing. The weekly topics will set a strong foundation of who Jesus is and how He held relationships with others. Jesus is the original example of loving kindness and we want to spread those characteristics to everyone. Kindness does matter and doing it with love is the highest form of kindness.
