And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him help meet for him. ~Genesis 2:18 NKJ
It was literally day 6 in creation that God realized that man can’t do life alone. We need a companion- someone to share the journey with and someone to help keep our eyes on God.
Take it from me this isn’t something that you can do alone…. you NEED people! People that you can talk to and that will be willing to be honest with you. Not the kind of honesty that requires anything in return- the kind of honest that comes from sincere compassion. Someone to help you to be accountable for God’s will and path for you.
I want the kind of people in my corner- like in professional boxing. People that cheer for me, wipe off the blood and sweat from my brow. Matching outfits is highly recommended but not required. People that will fight for me and encourage me to never give up! People with real passion, who want me to win!
God has a plan for everything and His people are not hiding- they are standing tall!
You may be wondering where to find people like that…. well, I would suggest church. My church has lots of ways to get plugged in through service and through life groups (small group). These opportunities can give you a chance to make real connects with people. Bonus: they’re the kind of people that are seeking God too! So that’s already a win!
If your not plugged into a church find a peer or coworker that follows Jesus and ask them to coffee- regularly. Even if you don’t share a common church home, being around fellow followers can make a big impact in your life. Believers will share the grace and mercy freely with you and you can trust the Holy Spirit is right along with you.
If neither of these seem achievable – always take it to God. Pray that He puts someone in your life that can help you grow in your faith and support you through prayer. God does amazing things if we just ask….
For everyone ( not only believers, not only the righteous… EVERYONE) who asks receives; the one seeks finds; and the one who knocks, the door will be opened. ~ Matthew 7:8 NIV
God loves you so much that He’s not gonna leave you hanging. He’s going to answer your prayers; He’s our biggest fan.
So, who’s in your corner?
